Not a beginners manual really, but more of a nice addition to anyone's acrylic painting library. Love this book for fun ideas and things to expand on. I've been using it as a jumping off point with a student of mine and its worked fabulously as inspiration.
It is easy to follow and chock full of info. Where I can read and enjoy it without being interrupted (tmi). I am so impressed with this book that I just purchased a second copy to keep in my art studio. I have the first copy in the bathroom.
This is not a book that will teach you to paint and there are no fine brush techniques. And the book does give "tricks" to use these products for.and they are tricks. I agree with some of the reviewers that pointed out the sillyness of the "sticker technique" But there is still value here for those who enjoy craft painting, altered art, mixed media, and art journaling. I think many of the reviews are reviewing the book for what it is not rather than the intended purpose of the book. This book gives some good explanation of fine acrylic artist products (the author does rep for Golden though so their products are featured).
If you are just getting started with acrylic paints, the spiral bound format and easy instructions along with pictures could be a helpful inspiration. This beginner's book has its use for crafters or children. If you were expecting serious techniques (not a detailed explanation of how to incorporate stickers onto your canvas) then you shouldn't buy this book.
Still no book. The book was ordered on 2-18, still not received. Excustomer, Dean Hansen Please refund the money, I'll get the book elsewhere. I have sent three e-mails trying to get the book. On 3-12 I finally recieved an e-mail from Steve Hotkiss, Stating he was never informed of the sale and would send it immediatley.
